Wonders of Wonders....

Sorry I have Fiddler on the Roof stuck in my head...Ummm...okay So I recently joined a new congregation (this past Sunday) and who would ever think that I would even change denominations! Yes that's right...I am even singing in the choir. But anyway
I joined Wesley United Methodist Church, in Tupelo, they are so so awesome. I had been going for a few weeks and I know it was somewhat fatalistic when I started to go with Ando. Well I guess this means people think that I have gone totally the opposite end of the way...but I havn't...I mean it is the first time in a VERY long time where I feel safe and loved in a church.

Well gotta go to class, only got Today, Tomorrow and next week before finals. YIKES!!!!

Happy Late New Year!

Well I guess since it is about 2 weeks into the New Year and everything seems to happen in the last month or a little more. The Saturday before Thanksgiving mom broke her ankle in 2 places and the following week she had a plate and 2 screws put in. Then the 30th my dad was fired. Every since then its gone somewhat down hill. Also in that week we lost my Trixi Darlin' she went off and died we think. Well school starts back for me next week.

Well I gotta go will write a bigger post in a few weeks...

Thoughts of the Election...

Hey everyone...my mom sent out an email earlier today and said I could post it...I agree with it 200% or more. I don't know who all will read this but here it is...

Quoting email...

Hi all! This is not a joke email, but rather something that has been bothering me that I wanted to share with you all.

Its been two days since our nation history changed forever. And although 48% of the American voters felt differently, the nature of democracy is that the one who gets the most votes wins. Its a chance both candidates took. Although I personally did not vote for President Elect Obama, the fact remains that he will become the President of the United States in 75 days. For far too long we have been a nation divided. The wars, the economy, the possible solutions - there are distinct differences in how we all feel about the major issues facing this nation.

For quite some time I have quietly watched while this country has disparaged our existing President. The job of President encompasses a great deal of responsibility, and when I was growing up, it commanded a great respect. This respect has been eroded over the past 20 years. No one would have dreamed of releasing a "biopic" of Ronald Reagan when he was still occupying the White House, yet just a short time ago the movie "W" was released. I found this extraordinarily offensive, and extremely disrespectful. Like him or not, agree with him or not, George W. Bush IS the sitting President of the United States of America. This disrespect must end. We as a nation must stop being so concerned about being a White American, African American, Mexican American, Republican American, Democratic American, Independent American, etc. We must instead focus our energies on being good AMERICANS.

With this in mind, we must return the respect to the office of the Presidency. We, all of us, inherently have the right to disagree with our elected officials - that's why we have elections, to make our desires known. But along with that right, we as Americans have a responsibility to support our leaders. 148 years ago, the presidential election started a snowball that resulted in the Civil War. Eight years ago, "hanging chads" and court cases demeaned an election that is still fodder for the late night comics. We have, as a nation, endured eight years of jokes about our President, and have watched our great nation go from a respected world leader to a laughingstock in many circles. Prior to that, we watched as President Bill Clinton tarnished the office with various scandals and a seeming lack of respect for the privilege of serving his nation. Let us stop this now. 48% of us must be convinced that President Elect Obama will point this nation in the right direction. We must not impede his efforts by this continuing disrespect. We must, as a nation, use the tools at our disposal to clean up this train wreck and rebuild. We must, as a nation, work to regain the respect that has been lost world wide.

I received many many emails that we should pray for the election of John McCain. I implore you now - we must pray for the restoration of our great nation. We must pray for the wisdom of our leaders. We must also realize that they are men, not robots, and as such are subject to mistakes. As many of you know, I am a veteran of the United States Navy. As such, I am proud of the service I gave my country. More than anything, I want my country to go forth in a positive direction. In the presidential election of 1860, the candidates did not campaign, as it was "beneath the dignity of the office". That dignity that our forefathers fought and died to protect is now tarnished and torn. Let us strive to return that dignity. Let us stick to the Biblical creed of "Do Unto Others". Let us, as American citizens, one by one restore the pride our parents and grandparents and great grandparents had in this nation.

Most of all, let us take the example of Senator John McCain to heart. He was gracious Tuesday evening, and vowed to work with the new administration for the good of this country. Let us all vow to do all in our power to make the statement "I'm proud to be an American" a statement of fact, not an anecdote in a history book.

I'm off my soapbox now. I'm sorry if I have offended any of you, but I just had to get this off my chest. Thanks for giving me the opportunity.

Margie

Good times...

Okay so it has been an eventful weekend and of course some of it was horrible.

But I get to that in a minute.

Saturday night my mom let Ando and me use her 2 free tickets to Randy Travis. It was AWESOME...which of course since I am a fan it would. I had a blast...so did Ando I think.

Well we are a few weeks before Thanksgiving, and that means a hard stand on papers and such. I have a few that I am working on...and other stuff too.

Well while I am on things happening, my heart and prayers go to Jennifer Hudson who lost her mom and brother this past weekend. I really hope the news sources today are wrong and her nephew will be found alive.

I can't remember if I told ya'll about the dumb idiot who shot himself and his "girlfriend" pulled over at the local grocery store in Sherman. Well if i did it was on the news that he had earlier in the day killed another girl, and then shot himself. That is so selfless.

Well enough of my rampage. Gotta go and study and look up informatino on papers and write a reflective paper on an event...which is due by Wednesday.

All day long...

So the debate is over, and Life is back to some sort of normalcy. Right now I am hoping my computer will keep working for the time being. My USB ports quit working, which I found out today that has been happening for a while, to other computers like mine. Ya know what that means...In January I get to get a new computer. Fun...Fun...

So I am going to start shopping. Fun...
and I was planning what next may??? a trip
but I would rather my computer mess up before the trip than after.

Anyway, hopefully this is not that bad boring. I should be able to upload some stuff at one time or another. I hope anyway.

I got scans from a while back that I need to put up. although they are on my myspace. plus I have debate pictures to work with.

My life is busy...later

Getting back...

Okay the first presidential debate was a success!

It was crazy in the grove Friday! Ando and I got there about 12:15 and didn't leave until 9. We had so much fun. I loved the music. Cant say if I had a favorite or not, well maybe Saving Abel and Paul Thorn, but all of the acts were right up my music alley. I had forgotten that there are some good stuff out now, still. One group that really stood apart was Mayhem(?) String band. THey were AWESOME. It was the most I laughed in a while.
I have to explain myself...
There were 2 giant catfish walking around the grove

While the string group was playing a song one of the fish was dancing around the grove. I hope to have it more up soon. I gotta mess around with it and other videos I took Friday...

Greetings and Salutations...

To all of those who are reading this that mysteriously found it by looking. Welcome. Yesterday was my mom and dad's anniversary. They have been married 24 years and already have the reservations for their 25th next year. Cool huh?

I will be hopefully posting a video tonight that I (with help from Ando) took to show how fun it is being a student at UM and live away from campus during debate week.
A teacher yesterday called Monday 1AD i.e. day one after debate. Pretty funny huh. I will be glad when I can sleep an extra hour on MWF. But I hope to get my video camera out and tape the look of the campus over the next few days. So lies in the hope of having a "video" blog.

I have recently decided to somewhat boycott newer music. Some of it is so blah. I mean if I wanted to hear the same song over and over again I would. Plus with the purchase of my ipod a few years ago and the adapter to play in the car why? right. I have probably started to majorly annoy my friend coming to class. I actually am able to listen to what I want. All in one sitting (as long as I have the song). My current playlist includes artists, Styx, Ted Nugent, Starship, and Queen. Just to name a few. Well. I better go and look over my material for the test I have at 230. yeah...

So later...

as promised

Okay so I didn't get done what I wanted to last night when I got home I was really tired. Plus had Christianity homework...

So here is what I wrote yesterday...(typed it in a word processor)

Blog for September 18, 2008
Hey everyone!
Okay my paper is done and I am so glad. It was harder than I thought it would be much more difficult. Oh well. So I decided to type this up and post it (after the fact) probably the date is the 19th. If so those who know me know that I have a class at 230 and 5 on Thursday nights plus this is homecoming week for North Pontotoc so we have to pick up the brat after everything. I know it sounds redundant for me to do things with north with everything but I am. Last week actually was horrible yes north got the Horton trophy (For those that don’t know it is the trophy for the North/South Pontotoc game’s winner) it really doesn’t matter. However it was at south. Horrible right.

Well teacher just came in later…

So I am going to write a little more later....gotta talk about the upcoming debate...yeah...(not)
