Thoughts of the Election...

Hey everyone...my mom sent out an email earlier today and said I could post it...I agree with it 200% or more. I don't know who all will read this but here it is...

Quoting email...

Hi all! This is not a joke email, but rather something that has been bothering me that I wanted to share with you all.

Its been two days since our nation history changed forever. And although 48% of the American voters felt differently, the nature of democracy is that the one who gets the most votes wins. Its a chance both candidates took. Although I personally did not vote for President Elect Obama, the fact remains that he will become the President of the United States in 75 days. For far too long we have been a nation divided. The wars, the economy, the possible solutions - there are distinct differences in how we all feel about the major issues facing this nation.

For quite some time I have quietly watched while this country has disparaged our existing President. The job of President encompasses a great deal of responsibility, and when I was growing up, it commanded a great respect. This respect has been eroded over the past 20 years. No one would have dreamed of releasing a "biopic" of Ronald Reagan when he was still occupying the White House, yet just a short time ago the movie "W" was released. I found this extraordinarily offensive, and extremely disrespectful. Like him or not, agree with him or not, George W. Bush IS the sitting President of the United States of America. This disrespect must end. We as a nation must stop being so concerned about being a White American, African American, Mexican American, Republican American, Democratic American, Independent American, etc. We must instead focus our energies on being good AMERICANS.

With this in mind, we must return the respect to the office of the Presidency. We, all of us, inherently have the right to disagree with our elected officials - that's why we have elections, to make our desires known. But along with that right, we as Americans have a responsibility to support our leaders. 148 years ago, the presidential election started a snowball that resulted in the Civil War. Eight years ago, "hanging chads" and court cases demeaned an election that is still fodder for the late night comics. We have, as a nation, endured eight years of jokes about our President, and have watched our great nation go from a respected world leader to a laughingstock in many circles. Prior to that, we watched as President Bill Clinton tarnished the office with various scandals and a seeming lack of respect for the privilege of serving his nation. Let us stop this now. 48% of us must be convinced that President Elect Obama will point this nation in the right direction. We must not impede his efforts by this continuing disrespect. We must, as a nation, use the tools at our disposal to clean up this train wreck and rebuild. We must, as a nation, work to regain the respect that has been lost world wide.

I received many many emails that we should pray for the election of John McCain. I implore you now - we must pray for the restoration of our great nation. We must pray for the wisdom of our leaders. We must also realize that they are men, not robots, and as such are subject to mistakes. As many of you know, I am a veteran of the United States Navy. As such, I am proud of the service I gave my country. More than anything, I want my country to go forth in a positive direction. In the presidential election of 1860, the candidates did not campaign, as it was "beneath the dignity of the office". That dignity that our forefathers fought and died to protect is now tarnished and torn. Let us strive to return that dignity. Let us stick to the Biblical creed of "Do Unto Others". Let us, as American citizens, one by one restore the pride our parents and grandparents and great grandparents had in this nation.

Most of all, let us take the example of Senator John McCain to heart. He was gracious Tuesday evening, and vowed to work with the new administration for the good of this country. Let us all vow to do all in our power to make the statement "I'm proud to be an American" a statement of fact, not an anecdote in a history book.

I'm off my soapbox now. I'm sorry if I have offended any of you, but I just had to get this off my chest. Thanks for giving me the opportunity.

Margie

Good times...

Okay so it has been an eventful weekend and of course some of it was horrible.

But I get to that in a minute.

Saturday night my mom let Ando and me use her 2 free tickets to Randy Travis. It was AWESOME...which of course since I am a fan it would. I had a blast...so did Ando I think.

Well we are a few weeks before Thanksgiving, and that means a hard stand on papers and such. I have a few that I am working on...and other stuff too.

Well while I am on things happening, my heart and prayers go to Jennifer Hudson who lost her mom and brother this past weekend. I really hope the news sources today are wrong and her nephew will be found alive.

I can't remember if I told ya'll about the dumb idiot who shot himself and his "girlfriend" pulled over at the local grocery store in Sherman. Well if i did it was on the news that he had earlier in the day killed another girl, and then shot himself. That is so selfless.

Well enough of my rampage. Gotta go and study and look up informatino on papers and write a reflective paper on an event...which is due by Wednesday.

All day long...

So the debate is over, and Life is back to some sort of normalcy. Right now I am hoping my computer will keep working for the time being. My USB ports quit working, which I found out today that has been happening for a while, to other computers like mine. Ya know what that means...In January I get to get a new computer. Fun...Fun...

So I am going to start shopping. Fun...
and I was planning what next may??? a trip
but I would rather my computer mess up before the trip than after.

Anyway, hopefully this is not that bad boring. I should be able to upload some stuff at one time or another. I hope anyway.

I got scans from a while back that I need to put up. although they are on my myspace. plus I have debate pictures to work with.

My life is busy...later

Getting back...

Okay the first presidential debate was a success!

It was crazy in the grove Friday! Ando and I got there about 12:15 and didn't leave until 9. We had so much fun. I loved the music. Cant say if I had a favorite or not, well maybe Saving Abel and Paul Thorn, but all of the acts were right up my music alley. I had forgotten that there are some good stuff out now, still. One group that really stood apart was Mayhem(?) String band. THey were AWESOME. It was the most I laughed in a while.
I have to explain myself...
There were 2 giant catfish walking around the grove

While the string group was playing a song one of the fish was dancing around the grove. I hope to have it more up soon. I gotta mess around with it and other videos I took Friday...

As my title says it is 1BC, last day before the debate. This debate is a BIG thing. This may be considered a HUGE thing in Ole MIss history. It is really a headache but has become fun.

Well I am going to the Grove tomorrow, and tonight am staying to listen to Tom Brokaw speak. WEll I gotta go.

Greetings and Salutations...

To all of those who are reading this that mysteriously found it by looking. Welcome. Yesterday was my mom and dad's anniversary. They have been married 24 years and already have the reservations for their 25th next year. Cool huh?

I will be hopefully posting a video tonight that I (with help from Ando) took to show how fun it is being a student at UM and live away from campus during debate week.
A teacher yesterday called Monday 1AD i.e. day one after debate. Pretty funny huh. I will be glad when I can sleep an extra hour on MWF. But I hope to get my video camera out and tape the look of the campus over the next few days. So lies in the hope of having a "video" blog.

I have recently decided to somewhat boycott newer music. Some of it is so blah. I mean if I wanted to hear the same song over and over again I would. Plus with the purchase of my ipod a few years ago and the adapter to play in the car why? right. I have probably started to majorly annoy my friend coming to class. I actually am able to listen to what I want. All in one sitting (as long as I have the song). My current playlist includes artists, Styx, Ted Nugent, Starship, and Queen. Just to name a few. Well. I better go and look over my material for the test I have at 230. yeah...

So later...

I also am planning on going to a study abroad trip to Prague, Vienna and Aushwitz. It is going to be fun. Well I gotta go its been a long day again.

as promised

Okay so I didn't get done what I wanted to last night when I got home I was really tired. Plus had Christianity homework...

So here is what I wrote yesterday...(typed it in a word processor)

Blog for September 18, 2008
Hey everyone!
Okay my paper is done and I am so glad. It was harder than I thought it would be much more difficult. Oh well. So I decided to type this up and post it (after the fact) probably the date is the 19th. If so those who know me know that I have a class at 230 and 5 on Thursday nights plus this is homecoming week for North Pontotoc so we have to pick up the brat after everything. I know it sounds redundant for me to do things with north with everything but I am. Last week actually was horrible yes north got the Horton trophy (For those that don’t know it is the trophy for the North/South Pontotoc game’s winner) it really doesn’t matter. However it was at south. Horrible right.

Well teacher just came in later…

So I am going to write a little more later....gotta talk about the upcoming debate...yeah...(not)

remembered...

Okay so I remembered what I was going to say as soon as I posted the other one.

As many of you know the first presidential debate is on September 26th. It is being hosted by the University of Mississippi, FUn, FUN...not

It has become a headache. I mean parking has gone for the birds, and its only going to get worse. I actually can't wait for it to be over. Week after next is going to be even worse, I am so glad that they canceled class for the day of the debate, I would have skipped anyway.

Well enough of that, later, again...

It's Raining...It's Pouring...

Okay, Random title right? Not really, It's raining here, from IKE. Yeah, right. I hope it wasn't too damaging to Texas. I know it rained there all day yesterday.

Oh, boy, I brought this up wanting to write and I forgot what I was going to say...normal, right. So I guess I will not say anything...oh, well...

Hope everybody had a good weekend.

Nightmare

Okay I bet from the title you are wondering what I am talking about...well it is a poem that I wrote August 30, 2001 after taking a test in English II. So here it is...

People won’t let me be
Because I’m different I can’t understand why
So please don’t pick on me today.

Don’t talk rumors
It hurts me so
I need someone to take me away
From this hateful life.

Then the alarm clock buzzes
And I wake up.
O my, it was just a nightmare.

I get dressed and go to school
First thing I see and hear are people
Pointing and laughing at me.

Hope ya'll enjoyed it...later

Can it be?

Okay it really just hit me that it was already September. What really made me think of this was last night. We had finished eating a "family" supper at the table and everything when my mom of all people asked the question. "Where will we put the Christmas tree?" Like she said it just hit her all of a sudden. And I can't get that out of my head we are almost 3 months from Christmas. It just doesn't seem right. I mean Christmas is going to be slim present wise but that's okay. One of my best gifts is my older brother Ryan.

On another note my mom and dad have their reservations for their 25th anniversary next September at Disney World. Now all they have to do is pay for it. lol...
Andrea, Amy and I are planning a trip in 2010, hopefully we can't make reservations until next year, so we are all saving up..lol

Anyway I should be out of school by then, don't really know what I am going to do. I have really fallen in love with Religion, but I still love education, I am really torn.
Wow I have less than 2 hours before my next class. Hopefully next semester I don't do this again. Although I get to listen and watch great music on you tube.
I really have fallen in love with the cite I get to watch Styx, Queen, Weird Al and many others of my favorites its really cool. its way better than how I used to have to listen to them and hope they came on the radio.

But any who...I am hoping to be able tonight to type up my old poems from 2001 and 2002 and post them sometime before the 11th. They were written in remembrance of 9/11 and even previously written for one of them. I probably will start writing again soon, I hope if I ever get the time.

Well I better see what I want to do I will probably see if I can upload a picture-show from Disney either to you tube or here.

Don't forget

Okay so this weekend was busy. Friday (the 29th) was my Great Aunt and her son's birthday. But it was also the day that my new baby cousin, Hayden came into this world. He was 7lbs 7 oz and 21 inches long, now thats a big boy huh.
What's funny about Hayden is that if he was 2 days earlier he would have shared with me. And if he had waited until the next day, he would have shared a birthday with his big sister.

That is the main family news. Oh,,,wait a sec, my Great Aunt Ronnie's birthday (mom's side) was Friday as well and I wish her all the best. She is waiting for a surgery on her esophagus sometime soon hopefully.

Also Friday was the 3rd anniversary of Katrina. and Gustav of course came ashore earlier today.

We haven't got that much as of yet, but it ain't over yet. My prayers go out to those who have been forced to leave their homes and those in Cuba whose families lost loved ones.

Another anniversary is coming up. September 11

This day was very hard for me, not just because of what happened in 2001 but of what happened in 1996. My great-grandmother (Granny) died in a car wreck on that day. For all intensive purposes she was really influencial to my growing up. Some years it hits me bad, but some just kill me.

Well that's it for now...later

Wowed and wowzer

Okay, so now is the time where I can honestly say that I was surprised last night. I knew my mom had been planning something for my birthday but didn't know what to expect. Now I had guessed that my aunt would bake me a cake since she did one for Andrea. I will try to tell the story okay and no we didn't get any pictures or video oh well...

Okay I get out of class at 615 normally on Thursdays but we got out about 15 minutes early. So I go to leave the Turner Center (where my class is) and see near the exit is Andrea and to my great surprise my good friend Sunil. Which of course I didn't expect at all. I am sure I looked very surprised. Because I was. So Andrea, Sunil and I got in the car and drove the excruciating long distance to the house (its only about 45 minutes but it seemed like it was taking forever last night)Finally we get there and my aunt's car is in the yard. I was sent to go get my grandmother and we sat down. My mom had promised me that she would cook homemade spaghetti (and of course I kind of knew that was what we were having because of Sunil having been invited to partake in eating it)and guess what she had gotten up about 5 minutes after I left yesterday morning and put the sauce to cooking!!!! Now before we ate since everyone didn't have much time I opened the cards and presents. My grandma gave me cash which was cool (books)and my aunt had gone to the casinos this past weekend and they were giving away a gift that I really wanted, it was a fondue set in the shape of a Hershey's* Kiss!!! it was so cute. plus in here card she gave me a little help cash wise (all the money is in my bank account). So anyway we ate the spaghetti and my aunt for my cake baked a chocolate cake with chunks of chocolate in it. It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!

That is pretty much what happened last night.

So I have class in 22 mins so I better start huffing it (not) I am sitting downstairs in the "lobby" of Bryant, and all I have to do is go upstairs. Another good thing to tell ya'll is that I am going straight for Religion major most probably and I might go for a minor in English...coool huh?

Well 2 minutes have passed since I started typing, do ya'll know how hard it is to type and think when you are bored.. ( I was so tempted to misspell that). but anyway I hope there are some people looking at this if not oh well...well later gator...

The pictures were taken on the 14th. I am getting some picts together for one for my birthday!

Okay

Now that I have more time to look at stuff I can add more to my blog. 2 of my classes don't meet again until next week. So I got up early this morning for no reason. Oh, well. My next class is at 3 so I am messing around on the internet and stuff. right now I am listening to a music video by Queen. One of the best bands of all time. Anyway, I have a video up on my facebook with different picts from a few weeks ago, I am going to try to post it in a few...later

Finally

Olympic Dreams

Okay so I have been religiously watching the Olympics, as usual. Like anyone I am glad that Phelps is doing good, but I am also glad that China is doing good. I will say I have not seen that many falls on apparatuses in gymnastics in the Olympics ever. It was horrible watching both men and women, hopefully the women tonight will be able to do a little better. The one fall on the rings last night hurt to watch. Well on another note I can't wait for the long jump next week, an Ole Miss alum you could call her, Brittany Reese, who is also from the Glorious State of MISSISSIPPI! I really hope she does really well.

Well I know it will be a few days before the next post I am on my dad's computer right now since I didn't feel like bringing mine out of the case. I am thinking about putting pictures I have from growing up as a blog but don't think I will.

If anyone actually reads this just to let y'all know my birthday is in 14 DAYS!! I would say can't wait but it is the 3rd day of classes...yeah right. Oh, well.

I am trying to type this and not bust out laughing at my Frankie. I will try to get a few picture's of the dogs up in the next few days, or by my birthday at least.

Well gotta go be bored. Later

Mourning

Well I know it has been a while since I last blogged. I think it said either February or March...oh well. I know there is a lot of things that happened in my life in the past few months but that is not the reason for this blog.

In the past 2 weeks we lost at least two influential people in the public eye. A week ago it was Tim Russert, now yesterday it was George Carlin.

Both of these men have helped our nation with either having a tell it like it is attitude or in the case of George Carlin, a way to keep many people laughing.

I got most of my political news from Tim Russert, many Sundays were spent watching the show, especially during important elections.

Well I will post again soon once I get my thought together and see what all I missed with all of this stuff.

hope ya'll enjoy

Just because you dont support the war, doesnt mean you cant support the troops fighting for our freedom.

Turn up your volume too theres a song!

You stay up for 16 hours.
He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

..

You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

If you support your troops, the click "reply to poster" copy all the codes, and repost the bulletin.

If you don't support your troops well, then don't re-post. You won't die in 7 days, your love life won't be affected, and you won't have the worst day ever. You don't have to repost. It's not like you know the men and women that are dying to preserve your rights.

To cop
